4 Ways to Make Benefits More Attractive During the Great Resignation

One of the main reasons employees stay with a firm is because of the benefits package and personal goals congruence.

In 2022, the hiring procedure will be difficult; organizations will need to speed up their candidate selection process. The so-called Great Resignation hasn’t ended yet. In the United States, the monthly resignation rate has not exceeded 2.4 percent of the workforce over the past 20 years. Resignation rates in the private sector soared to 3.4 percent every month in late 2021. At 6.8% per month, the foodservice business has one of the highest resignation rates.

To recruit the greatest employees, compensation and perks must be competitive. Organizations must also analyze their culture because it has the potential to influence how candidates feel about working for them.

What HR can do to help

People want to work for a company that understands them. For many candidates, the ideal firm combines its benefits offers with both the organization’s mission and the individual’s values and aspirations. HR experts must consider how changes like flexibility may affect a company’s overall success strategy. This requires the ability to adapt to any difficulties or possibilities that may arise.

One of the main reasons employees stay with a firm is a robust benefits package, which, together with personal alignment of goals, may be a big selling factor in attracting new talent. Employers who can successfully deliver this will emerge as the ultimate winners in the struggle for talent.

1. Benefits that address five major wellness levers

Wellness has been understood as including the full individual and their overall well-being. Employers are challenged to look beyond financial and physical well-being to develop innovative ways to comprehend an employee’s personal goals and difficulties. Employers should provide tools to support emotional, physical, financial, social, and professional health by taking a more holistic approach to employee well-being.

Employers may show how much they care about their employees by designing a customized benefits program that meets their demands using specialty accounts. Employers can design any part of the program, including funding, use, and eligibility conditions, with these powerful designs.

2. What is valued can be influenced by generational preferences.

Benefits are valued and used differently depending on how they are structured and conveyed to employees. Benefits should not be viewed as a one-size-fits-all solution, but rather as a customized package tailored to each employee’s specific needs.

Most employees expect traditional benefits like paid time off and health insurance. However, depending on the demographics of the workforce, firms may prioritize additional, non-traditional benefits differently. Consider the employees’ life cycle or generation when selecting what benefits to provide. Don’t be scared to ask your staff what advantages they value.

3. Benefits should be improved, and awareness should be raised.

Success requires flexibility. Adapting to new trends and possibilities and staying current with them will help you maintain your current personnel. Offering competitive salary and updated benefits packages sets the tone for attracting and retaining professionals.

It’s critical to hold a meeting with new employees to discuss the company’s perks and assist them in enrolling. Track awareness and use across all current employees in addition to communicating with prospective hires. Employees should be educated about perks and campaigns should be shared if they are unaware of them. Check the usability and ease of use of the benefit if utilization is low despite strong awareness. Employees will be able to make the most of their benefits, and companies will have a better understanding of what employees value.

4. Consider including something unique.

Look for ways to appeal to a person’s personal needs or interests. Offering Audible or Spotify memberships to having a “bring your pet to work” day are just a few examples of creative rewards. Employers should consider providing perks to workers who work from home, such as subsidizing the cost of setting up employees’ home offices, as there are more employees working remotely than ever before.

Start by enhancing the resources that already exist inside your firm to effectively support employee well-being. Encourage employees to own how they use those tools, and then be proactive in providing suitable resources so that everyone has what they need now and in the future!
