New Insurance Agent Training
Being a new insurance agent is exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time, but having a good and positive mindset will keep you on the road to success. As exciting as it is, being a successful agent needs training first. Everyone starting out in this industry has little to no knowledge on how to be an effective insurance agent, so training is a must, especially for the new ones. For an existing insurance agent, he/she knows that a new insurance agent training is vital when you’re starting.
If you’re an existing agent that needs to train newbies, here are some tips on training them:
Let the Newbies know that They Are A Part of the Sale – When potential clients make a purchase one factor is the one who’s selling it. More than selling the product, the insurance agent must sell himself. The agent must dress and talk professionally, be enthusiastic and be relevant, always listen and know when to talk.
Identify Buying Triggers – these are prompts or reasons on why the client will buy the product. In order to know these, the agent must talk comfortably, ask questions and listen.
Record and Listen to Phone Calls – Learning from previous experience can help the insurance agent know what to prevent and what to improve on. Recording phone calls and listening to it is a good way to learn, the agent can assess after listening.
Introduce them to Performing Agents – Let them watch other experienced agents. Encourage them also to ask questions with performing agents, you can also team them up with these agents for them to learn more.
Prepare Questions to ask Leads – Give your new agents a list of questions they can use to ask their leads. A guide for the newbies would be helpful for them while they’re starting
Make Them Practice Sales – Let them practice over and over again until the agent gets better.
Be the Role Model – As a mentor to your new agents, you must also show your skill on how to get sales. It doesn’t mean that you have to be perfect, but you have to show your good work ethic to your new agents so that they can also learn from you and be inspired to work harder.
Teach Proper Time Management – You can show them how to manage their time effectively by making an organized to do list, or a structured list of daily activities.
