Patients Desire Health And Wellness Services From Traditional Pharmacies, Survey Finds.
According to Christopher Lis, managing director of global health care analytics at J.D. Power, “customers are starting to appreciate their retail pharmacy as a hub for a broad range of everyday health and wellness services.”
With pandemic pressures sparking an expansion in telehealth and home delivery services, the past two years have witnessed a variety of improvements in how consumers access medical care. Here is some more recent J.D. Power contends that patients’ expectations of pharmacists are also changing. Customers desire more and more health and wellness services to be available at their pharmacies, according to their 2022 “US Pharmacy Study” of over 12,000 people.
According to the report, customers who use their pharmacy for health and wellness services are more likely to stay loyal to that pharmacy than those who seek these services elsewhere. According to the report, the most popular services for pharmacies offering health and wellness products and services are physical examinations, routine blood tests, eye and hearing tests, and physicals.
Customers are starting to use their retail pharmacy as a hub for a variety of routine health and wellness services, according to Christopher Lis, managing director of global health care intelligence at J.D. Power. He continues, “This is an opportunity for more retail pharmacies to innovate as a one-stop shop for routine care and to leverage data and technology to create an increasingly personalized customer experience.”
The data is particularly significant since it offers advice on how brick and mortar pharmacies may grow and retain their customers at a time when internet retailers like Amazon and others are expanding their pharmaceutical offerings. One in seven customers who frequent physical pharmacies were aware of Amazon’s pharmacy services and had used them previously.
The poll reveals that in addition to providing health and wellness services, apps can also foster customer loyalty. According to the study, people who used the app frequently reported being happier with their overall experience and were more likely to continue using their pharmacy.
